Description

  • DAY 1

A day with preparation: We meet at our Tundra Tour office in Limingen Gjestegård at 11am. We start first by going through the equipment, and all the gear (It will be handouts of rental gear if needed) We will go over safety procedures and the maps for where we are planning to go (weather permitted) All of the expedition food, such as breakfast, lunch and dinner will be handed out as well as spoons and cups. Any extra snacks you would like to bring can be purchased down at the local shop “Jokeren” We will then pack our pulk (sleds) together as a team, so you know how to pack it properly. After this, we will get dressed to go out for a training tour on cross country ski with the pulks. When we return back to Limingen Gjestegård you will have the rest of the day free to do as you wish.

    DAY 2

Now.. We are ready to start the adventure! Start the day bright and early. Have a solid breakfast (recommend porridge as it last) Tundra Tours will be at Limingen Gjestegård 9am where all of the equipment such as skies, poles and pulks get loaded in to the van. We set off as soon as this is in place. After a short car ride we get our gear on, and off we go. Through breathtaking and open landscape, we will start climbing the hills. This can be a challenge if it is windy. But we are on an expedition so its all part of it. Depending on the weather, we will have a couple of short or a long lunch break before we ski on to our first camp. As soon as we get settled we will start preparing our dinner. Our home for the night will be in our expedition tents that will be shared (2 – 3 people in each tent) here you can rest with a good book, chill out or go outside to look at the bright night sky. On clear nights there  are stars brighter than you have ever seen them before or if we are lucky the Aurora Borealis might make an appearance.

    DAY 3

We get up around 9.00am and after breakfast we will pack our sleeping bags, mats and the rest of the gear in our pulk’s to ski a few more kilometres to explore more of the beautiful tundra. Keeping our eyes up for both Reindeer’s and Wolverines. Arriving our destination where we will set our last camp. This will be our last night exposed to the arctic tundra in our tents. For tomorrow we are heading back home.

    DAY 4

We get up bright and early 8.30am and after breakfast we will pack our sleeping bags, mats and the rest of the gear in our pulk’s for the last time. Roughly 10am we set off to explore more of the wild and beautiful arctic scene. Arriving our final destination where our cars are, and we will drive back to Limingen Gjestegård. Here we end the tour and you can finally take a warm shower before we all get together for dinner and share the stories and photos from the tour.
