  • ***Snow caving for total beginners*** in Namsskogan / Røyrvik – A nature pearl in the heart of Norway. With our fun and experienced instructors, you’ll learn how to construct the snow shelters that will keep you warm, comfortable and safe during you’re stay. This with little more than a snow saw and a spade. You’ll learn not just how to build them. But also why we build them as shelters. By building and sleeping in your very own snow cave, you learn the survival skills that we use when we are on the mountain, and when the weather turns for the worst. This is a great skill for any outdoor enthusiast to have if you ever got surprised on the mountain in bad weather. You will be amazed how comfortable a snow cave actually is. We will prepare our evening meal in the snow cave, get cozy with a cup of hot chocolate perhaps play cards and doze off while the stars and the possibly the northern light twinkles over your cave.

We start first by going through the equipment and all the gear (handouts of rental gear as required) We will go over safety procedures and the maps for where we are planning to go (weather permitted) All of the expedition food, such as breakfast, lunch and dinner will be handed out as well as spoons, cups etc. Any extra snacks you would like to bring can be purchased down at the local shop “Jokeren” We will then pack our pulk (sleds) together as a team, so you know how to pack it properly. After this, we will get dressed to go out for a training tour on cross country ski with the pulks. When we return back to Limingen Gjestegård you will have the rest of the day free to do as you wish.

    DAY 2

We start bright and early at 9am. We will collect you from Limingen Gjestegård and you will be driven to our destination were we will start our tour. We start first by going through the equipment before we pack our pulks. Now.. We are ready to start the adventure! Through breathtaking and open landscape with beautiful views of the white, but yet rough landscape. Depending on the weather, we will have a couple of short breaks or a long lunch break before we ski on to our final destination. As soon as we get settled we start digging our snow caves. Our home for the night will be in the snow caves that will be shared (3 people in each cave) here you can rest with a good book, chill out or go outside to look at the bright night sky. On clear nights there are stars brighter than you have ever seen them before or if we are lucky the Aurora Borealis might make an appearance.

    DAY 3

We get up around 9 am and after breakfast we will pack our sleeping bags, mats and the rest of the gear in our pulk’s for our return back down the mountain. We will bring you back to your accomodation at Limingen Gjestegård where we end the tour and you can finally take a warm shower before we all get together for dinner (optional) and share the stories and photos from the tour.
